Cathal Black’s sustained visionary film-making is central to the canon of Irish cinema. He was born in Dublin, where he now lives.  He started his career as a cameraman working with RTE television in the 1970s.  Since then he has won many international awards.

 Appointed to ‘Aosdana’ honouring artists engaged in literature, music and the visual arts who have made an outstanding contribution to the arts in Ireland.
